We are looking to hire 4 student positions (1 grad, 3 undergrad) to join us as we interview artists and analyse Siglo Latinx work. Please read up on the project on this website to have a clear idea of what our work entails before applying.
Available positions:
Project manager (1, graduate student):
Description: This position is recruiting for a recent graduate of an MA or PhD program or an advanced graduate student to help manage calendars, create and host virtual meetings, book travel/venues/catering, etc. for the research trips and a possible final festival. They will also oversee trainees as needed.
The successful applicant will build skills that demonstrate their ability to manage a team and undertake the administrative parts of an academic project, as well as organizing and scheduling a major event. They will also receive the same training as described below for undergraduate student trainees so that they can step in in the case of an unexpected absence of PI and/or the collaborators.
Qualifications: You are a current or recent graduate of a grad program (in a field related to Spanish literature and/or theatre, preferably in Canada). You have at least some training or classwork in early modern Spanish theatre. You speak Spanish and English fluently. You have experience with some of the skills listed in the description (project management, interviewing, administration/organization skills, etc.)
Start/end dates: We anticipate this position starting as soon as possible in Summer 2023 and continue into late 2024, possibly 2025.
Compensation: Compensation will be offered on a part-time, hourly basis as per the MacEwan Research Assistant Payscale and is contingent on level of education, experience, etc.
Student trainees (3, undergraduate students):
Description: Note that these positions are only open to MacEwan University and Ohio Wesleyan University undergraduates.
Successful applicants will be trained in creating interview questions, obtaining ethics clearance, and interviewing research subjects. Under the guidance of the researchers and project manager, they will research the companies to be interviewed and write questions to be used during the interview process. Post-interview, we will train students in transcription techniques so that they can transcribe and edit the interviews appropriately.
Qualifications: You are an undergraduate student at one of the listed universities of the PI and/or collaborator. You are fluent in both Spanish and English. You have taken at least 1 upper level Spanish course and are preferably a major or minor in Spanish. Preference will be given to those students who have taken coursework in early modern Spanish theatre and/or who have interview and transcription experience previously.
All students who participate in the research portions of the project (interviewing, transcribing, translating, etc.) will receive full credit, including bylines wherever appropriate.
Start/end dates: We anticipate these positions starting in Fall 2023 and continue into late 2024, possibly 2025.
